Jonathan’s blog post
its been quite a successful day here on the farm.
There’s plenty to do to get all the fields ready for harvest. All the fallen debris and broken branches have to be cleared, and the ‘manure spreading’ as we call it (muck spreading tp the rest of you!) has to be done.
The grass is playing catch up as this has been the first couple of weeks it has grown this year so it’s got plenty of energy and I should say we have had surely 100ml in the last 10 days!
The mountain ewes have been sent back up the mountain as lambing is now well and truly finished and they
shall be left up there until shearing day (end of June). Grazing the old herbage, and they will be gathered up and brought down to be shorn.
More good news! We had a lady from channel four (Penny) out to go through her plans to get her camera crew out to film what, (as she put it) is the best lamb in the world. They are due to come out to film during shearing time and I will be sure to tell you when to set your videos!
