Canada have the right idea on Organic meat
Naturally, we think that organic food (meat in particular) is the best way of producing the stuff that we eat. Our forefathers in history did it, and the world was a cleaner and more sustainable place. It has the potential to return enormous benefits to our country and the planet as a whole. Sometimes we don’t quite feel that our government see it that way, especially when we read the article below from Canada!
Canada Helps Fund Small Organic Meat Plant In Quebec
The Canadian government said it awarded $100,000 in funding to Les Viandes Biologiques de Charlevoix to finance equipment for a new organic meat processing facility in Quebec.
The funding will enable the company to acquire equipment needed to manufacture such value-added products as delicatessen meats and prepared foods, as well as to cover the costs of introducing these products to market.
The firm’s new processing facility is the result of more than $1.7 million in total investment and is expected to create 15 new jobs.
Canada Economic Development Minister Jean-Pierre Blackburn said in a news release that Les Viandes Biologiques de Charlevoix is positioning itself at the forefront of the organic meat processing sector in Quebec and will serve as an example to others interested in developing the region’s organic farming sector, most notably in the areas of livestock production and grain growing.
Clearly we don’t expect our government to fund our business. There were massive issues with the subsidy schemes and they were hugely open to abuse. The Canadian government seemed to have worked out that investing in Organic Meat production results in good quality, sustainable businesses that have good quality and long term employment in rural communities.
